GOODBYE LINDA

HARRISBURG, N.C. (July 29, 2003) -- It was with a heavy heart that Charles Carpenter attempted to qualify for the ACDelco Canadian Nationals last week, as he had just learned of the passing of Linda Jacobson, his friend of 16 years and the loving wife of Tom Jacobson.

"Linda was the ‘team mom’ for the whole (Super Chevy) circuit. She made the hotel reservations, planned our social events, and if anything needed to be done, Linda was the one who jumped right in and got it done. She was the ‘go to gal’ for all the teams," said Carpenter.

When Carpenter raced on the West Coast, he would stay at their Rolling Hills, Calif., home, often for a month at a time. The Jacobson’s loved the sport of drag racing, and even went to the drag races on their first date.

Jacobson succumbed to cancer on July 26, 2003.
